Initially arriving with little fanfare, the Product album gathered the wonderful avant-sound of Sophie's early singles into a set that felt startlingly cohesive. The identity games around the helium-pitched vocals, later revealed as Cecile Believe, only heightened its mystique. 'Bipp' twisted pop flirtation into real snap, 'Lemonade' fizzed with metallic bounce and 'Just Like We Never Said Goodbye' chased ecstatic release through glassy synths. Beneath the high-gloss finish sat a sly satire of consumer culture, all shrink-wrap surfaces and emotional pull. In hindsight, these tracks mapped out the architecture of hyperpop and they still sound bold and confrontational yet tender.
