To mark Record Store Day 2020, Neil Young has decided to make his near-mythical lost album Homegrown - one of a number of sets he recorded and canned in the 1970s - available on vinyl for the very first time. Recorded in December 1974 and January 1975 following the breakdown of a relationship, the set was scheduled for release before Young decided to pull it. Musically, it's an essential listen for Young fans, not least because it's a more softly spun and heart-aching affair that provides a sharp contrast to the bolder, brassier and bigger productions he became known for during the period. Five of the tracks featured were later re-recorded and released on other albums, but the versions here are markedly different, while the previously unheard songs are uniformly superb.
