Over the course of his career, Pete Blaker has most often been associated with the disco and Balearic re-edit scenes. Yet as Swimming Limbs, officially his debut solo album, proves, the Dutchman is also a seriously talented producer of original music. Atmospheric, warming, hazy and frequently solidly loved-up, the eight tracks on show variously mix and match elements of ultra-deep house, early 90s ambient house, Balearic-minded downtempo soundscapes, dub techno and saucer-eyed Mediterranean house obscurities. The results are uniformly excellent, with Blaker successfully leaning into glassy-eyed tactility and quietly emotive grooves.
