You can see why the house mega-label snapped up 'Doin' Ya Thang', a thrillingly bass-heavy, low-slung and peak-time ready affair that sounds like Andres or Moodymann after a shedload of steroids. While the groove is sturdy, rolling and hypnotic, it's the occasional warming chords, party atmos samples and echoing spoken word snippets that lift the track to the next level. It comes accompanied by an even more stripped-back and heavyweight dub that wisely foregrounds the deep, metronomic bassline.
