With each release on Movement and Soul, Sheffield-based Nonna Fab seems to edge further from functional deep house and closer towards something altogether more transportive. Journey To The Outer Atmosphere hears the label boss continuing that conversation once again, serving up five cuts steeped shuffling drums and soulful detail. From the dawn-lit drift of 'Dawn Chorus' to the cavernous sub-bass thrum of 'Low Winter Sun', the percussive intricacies of 'Meditations' to the celestial sweep of the title track, every piece seems calibrated for a different chapter of the night. The destination has become clear by the time 'First Light' arrives with its cascading Hammond lines and unhurried momentum. It's just that few producers chart the route with quite so much finesse.
