Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Ismael Miranda was at the height of his powers in 1978, at which point the salsa genre staple and Fania signee would cement his status as one of that axis' brightest stars, with the career-making LP Sabor. Two of that album's most visionary spirituals now come remixed by long-form New York house engine Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, through not one of his own many branching labels, but Fania themselves, reflecting their respect for the man (though this one was first released in 2015 and quickly disappeared, suggesting a rights-holding issue and renegotiation). Claussell lets deep, string-swelling strings rub up feather-ruffling conga and clave, as a well-bodied saxophone takes up the midrange.
