The Revenge's Instruments of Rapture label, originally an outlet blending loopy deep house with mid-tempo disco, has naturally impressed since returning to action last year after a 13-year hiatus. We're not 100 per cent sure who produced the three cuts on show here - originally, the label's releases tended to be collective with the Revenge playing a central role - but we can tell you that, once again, they hit home hard. Opener 'Make It Right' is typical of the label's distinctive sound - all smooth, hypnotic, thickset deep house grooves, slowly unfurling vocal samples, tight electric piano motifs, Balearic flourishes and a slow-build, tease-and-release structure. 'The Way Down' is slow and suspenseful, with jazzy synth-bass, filtered vocal loops and loved-up electronics, while 'Keep U Going' is another dusty, locked-in delight.
