Before he became world renowned as one of deep house's most spiritually minded DJs and producers, Joaquin "Joe" Clausell began his production career as one third of NYC outfit Instant House - a trio who released a string of dusty, dubby, tribal-infused deep house classics in the late 80s and early 90s. This release offers a chance to cop two cult classics from their catalogue. On side A, you'll find Clausell's own legendary 2011 remake of turn of the 90s jam 'Hat Hat', a fiendishly dark, driving and bass-heavy affair full of effects-laden pulses, machine-gun drum machine fills and hissing cymbals. Turn to the flip for 'Mellow Out', a warming late 80s deep house original that sounds as dreamy, tactile and loved up now as it did 35 years ago.
