First released way back in 1977, Walter Gibbons' extended, 11-minute rub of Loleatta Holloway's 'Hit & Run' was one of the first great 'disco mixes' - the extended, dancefloor-focused rearrangements that effectively gave birth to remix culture as we know it today. Gibbons take, which effectively teases out the track's groove, utilises more of Holloway's vocalisations, and generally turns the low-slung disco classic into a breathless, non-stop epic, rightfully takes pride of place on side A of this reissue, with a more recent take by Body & Soul NYC resident Joaquin Joe Clausell nestled on side B. His take is similar to the other 'edits and overdubs' takes he has delivered of late, with tons more infectious hard percussion, effects-laden vocal snippets aplenty, disco-house style filter sweeps, and greater use of the original's fuzz-toned guitar.
