Notes:
Angela and Daniele are the Neapolitan duo behind Foreground and they take a strictly cosmic approach to techno where all meaning and momentum comes from the drums. Ilian Tape is the perfect place for such experiments and opener 'Drift' is deliciously loose and funky in the way it jumbles up kicks and toms and deft hits. A little colour comes from some squiggly synths that carry the sort of excitable energy that rises before a big occasion. 'Core Waves' is a tightly woven arrangement where all the elements scurry around one another and the groove is uplifting and life-giving. 'Smashin' brings some big breaks and edgier stabs while 'Rising' is a humid, spiritual sound that might be what Joe Claussell made if he cooked up some techno.
