Los Angeles-based producer Truncate - real name David Flores - originally celebrated the first decade of his eponymous label in 2021 by inviting two techno uber-heavyweights, James Ruskin and Luke Slater in his Planetary Assault Systems guise, to remix two tracks from his back catalogue. The results, from the powerful and percussive end of the techno spectrum, have been flying off the proverbial shelves ever since, and we're glad to report it's had another repress. The two original tracks on show are naturally formidable workouts. 'First Phase' is a dense and murky tribal techno stomper, while 'The Eve' is a jacking, drum machine driven affair blessed with some intensely psychedelic acid lines. Former Truncate collaborator James Ruskin remixes that tune, turning a sharper, heavier and mildly wonky revision, while Luke Slater delivers a Planetary Assault Systems take on 'First Phase' that cloaks the producer's dense drums in spacey electronics and hypnotic synthesiser motifs.
