Notes:
Mike Huckaby founded his 'Jazz Republic' - also his third EP - in 1997 on Cross Section Records, between his early 90s apprenticeship between Detroit record shops and later period as a global educator, teaching synthesis and sound design as seriously as he made records. But his pedagogy was first in sound and soundsystem, and the label debut shows it, the title track setting forth with scrumming "huhs" and get-on-with-it chords, then 'Jazz Delirium' with cut-off claps and plopping drums. The B's 'The Stranger' is a samply favourite, with slight, DJ's delight variation in the sample position of a recor skipping horn line. This here 12" reissue revives the magic.
