After two decades away, D. Wynn is back and connected with Detroit house traditions on Mike Grant's excellent Moods & Grooves. Wynn centres warm chord progressions and steady drum programming on this EP, starting with 'Love Ain't Easy' with Lavell Williams, whose vocal sits forward in the mix and is elevated by restrained keys and mid-tempo rhythm. 'Use Me (U Turn Remix)' revisits familiar material with tighter sequencing over clipped, bumpy drums and a meandering bassline. 'Funk N The Drums' focuses on percussion and its interaction with the drums, which have a deft garage skip and hints of classic New York depth. The serene chords that come in add the sort of emotion that defines US house and ensure this is another crucial 12" from Wynn.
