Notes:
Many of many aliases Joaquin 'Joe' Clausell has decided to return to tracks he released as Bolla (his childhood nickname, fact fans) and Afrikan Basement back in the mid 2010s. All of the cuts he's remixed here were originally featured on the 2015 album Makussa, though in typical fashion he's re-made them with the help of a lengthy cast-list of musicians and percussionists. He delivers two takes on 'Downward Staircase' - a languid, loose-limbed and solo-laden Latin house style 'Sacred Rhythm' version, and a deeper, more bass-heavy and stripped back 'Drum dub' take. Elsewhere, 'Basement Seance' is a spooky and spaced-out fusion of ambient chords, African rhythms and heady vocalisations, and 'Kewlo' is an organ-rich Afro-house percussion jam.
